Qualcomm is holding its Snapdragon Summit this week and while much of biggest announcements are yet to be made, Qualcomm is sharing some interesting details about its Snapdragon platforms, namely that its laptop platform is believed to deliver premium performance. If you’ve somehow missed that Qualcomm chipsets power a few different laptops, that’s understandable. Qualcomm has, for the longest time, been a company that mostly makes chipsets for mobile devices . Laptop computers weren’t really in its wheelhouse on a scale that allowed consumers to buy hardware powered by its processors and GPUs. That has since changed over the last few years.
The company’s latest laptop chip, the Snapdragon X Elite , powers a few Copilot+ PCs running on Windows 11 . It’s possible that Qualcomm will be announcing another laptop chip during this event, too. What’s interesting is that Qualcomm shared a few different stats about the Snapdragon brand as a whole that may capture people’s attention. For instance, the number of people who believe that Snapdragon is a premium performance chipset for laptop PCs.
Snapdragon performance is “premium” according to 84% of laptop owners
First things first, it’s worth noting that Qualcomm doesn’t give a value for the sample size pool of this particular survey question. However, it sounds impressive nonetheless. According to the company when showing some statistics during the Snapdragon Summit keynote, 84% of laptop owners surveyed believe that Snapdragon performance on laptops is premium.
Qualcomm gathered these stats from the Snapdragon brand tracker and IDC. This wasn’t the only statistic that garnered attention. Qualcomm says that high-end smartphone users are willing to pay 95% more than low-tier users if it means they get a Snapdragon chipset in their next device. This props up Qualcomm for some huge potential revenue. As it can charge more for its chips bound for flagships and non-flagships. Speaking of revenue, Qualcomm also states that Snapdragon Insiders represent $2.5 Billion in annual spending potential. That’s a lot of potential revenue. Snapdragon Summit 2025 officially begins tomorrow. Qualcomm is expected to have several major announcements for the year ahead.
