If you feel that the battery on your smartphone doesn’t last as long as you’d like, you’re not alone. Most phones these days typically come with 4,000-5,000mAh of battery. While it’s enough to get through the day, it could be better. The good news is that there could be a phone with a massive battery in the works. According to tipster Digital Chat Station, a flagship phone powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 is in the works with a honking 9,000mAh battery.

Mysterious flagship Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 phone with huge battery

At the moment it is unclear what device this could be. However, if we had to venture a guess, it’s probably coming from one of the Chinese OEMs. But whether it’ll see a global release remains to be seen. However, we do know from the use of the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 is that it is a flagship device, and it’s pretty rare to see flagships pack such a huge battery.

At the moment, the largest battery we’ve seen in a phone that uses Qualcomm’s latest chipset is the Xiaomi 17 Pro Max. The handset comes with a respectable 7,500mAh battery. However, whatever this new device could be, it looks like it will beat Xiaomi. Other companies have tried their hand at massive batteries.

Realme did unveil a concept smartphone with a 15,000mAh battery. But like we said, it’s a concept. That being said, we have to wonder with a 9,000mAh battery, how long will it take to fully charge?

The rise in silicon carbon

OEMs stuffing larger batteries into phones has never been an issue. The tech exists. The problem is that back then, larger batteries also meant they were larger physically. No one wants a brick of a phone, right?

But thanks to the proliferation of silicon carbon battery technology , we’re seeing larger batteries without the bulk. We’ve seen companies such as Oppo use it in its Find N5 foldable phone. Silicon carbon tech allows batteries to hold a larger capacity, but keeping the size down.

These days, more OEMs are adopting the technology. So, it wouldn’t be a surprise if this mysterious phone with a 9,000mAh battery were to use the tech as well.
