Google pushed the Android 16 QPR3 Beta 2 update for Pixel 6 and above models last week. This version is all about fixes, where it fixed a long list of issues. It also includes an issue where Microsoft apps randomly crash on previous versions. Despite Google’s claims of addressing it, several users report that the issue is still present . This means the Android 16 beta is still crashing known work apps .

Android 16 beta continues to crash work apps

Several users are reporting on the Android beta subreddit and Google’s Issue Tracker that apps are still crashing, even though Google claims it has fixed the issue. The degree to which the issue is affecting different people varies. For some, certain Microsoft apps, like Teams, crash abruptly. For some others, it’s a larger mix of apps. Some users even report facing issues with the Microsoft Launcher on Android .

Making things even more complex, some users, including a Reddit user Shinnkuu , report using Microsoft apps without any issue on the latest Android 16 beta.

Some users are not facing any issues

When Google explicitly mentioned fixing the issue, it particularly meant issues related to Microsoft Intune. For context, Intune is Microsoft’s cloud infrastructure for managing enterprise-owned devices, including phones, tablets, and laptops. It’s possible that while fixing the issue for devices configured with Intune, it overlooks the regular users with similar issues.

One user was apparently able to fix the issue by enabling Android System WebView. This is considering that it was previously disabled on their device. While Google is aware of the issue, there hasn’t been an update on the most active Issue Tracker threads for this in recent weeks. It isn’t clear how long Google will take to fix it for good, but we’re hoping it won’t be too long.

For now, the solution to this issue is switching back to the stable version of Android 16 . Fortunately, this wouldn’t result in any data loss.
