If you’ve never messed with Androidify before, it’s a fun little application you can install that lets you create custom Android bot avatars, and now the app will let you transform those avatars into a custom watch face for your Wear OS smartwatch . It’s a pretty neat new feature that was added to the app as part of its latest update. Google announced the custom watch face feature on December 18. However, it was discovered back in September.
This is a free app , so if you have a compatible Android device, which is any Android device that’s running on Android 8.0 and up, you can install it and check things out for yourself. What’s neat is that you can have the app use your photo to create the custom Android bot. You can take a photo right from the app to make this creation. The alternative is to create a prompt using text that you type in, and the app will use Gemini to create the custom bot using your prompt. The more descriptive you are with your prompt, the better the results will turn out. If you don’t like the results, you can go back one screen and tweak any parts of the text to refine your custom avatar.
The Androidify personalized watch face requires the app to be on your watch
Naturally, if you want to send the custom avatar to your watch, you’ll need the Androidify app on your watch in addition to the phone. Luckily, this can be done within the phone app . All you have to do is create a custom Android bot avatar, then once it’s done, tap the watch icon in the bottom right corner. This will send an alert to your watch to install Androidify if it isn’t installed already.
After the installation, you may need to hit the watch icon a second time to send the avatar to your watch. You’ll first get a few different options to choose from for the watch face style. The custom bot you created will be incorporated into whatever style you choose. It’s not an earth-shattering feature add, but it is pretty fun to play with. It also shakes up your watch face style a bit.
