Rockstar Games has confirmed the Netflix release with an official trailer , but the release was also noticed by Wario64 on X shortly after, alongside details of the Netflix release. Particularly that the game will be coming with the Undead Nightmare DLC as part of the release. That’s a pretty good deal if you’re a gamer.

Red Dead Redemption isn’t just coming to Netflix; it’s also coming to other platforms

Netflix is going to be a “free” way to play this game if you don’t feel like buying it, but you’ll also have the chance to play it elsewhere. As noted by The Verge and confirmed by Rockstar’s trailer, Red Dead is coming to PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2 . In short, you have options and aren’t limited to Netflix.

It gets better for people who own the PS4 and Xbox One versions as well. If you own those older copies of the game, these modern versions are available as a free upgrade. The only people who should have to end up paying for it are those who don’t own it on an older console. Having said that, owning the older copy has its benefits. Rockstar confirms that you’ll be able to carry over save progress. So there’s an incentive to pick up the free upgrade and play it if you never finished it.

Carry-over progress is available for people who own the game on the original Nintendo Switch as well. Having originally been released in 2010, Red Dead Redemption is one of Rockstar’s classics at this point. While it was available to play on last-gen consoles, this will be the first time it lands on mobile devices. It’s also the first time it’ll be available properly on current-gen Nintendo, PlayStation , and Xbox consoles.
