The iPhone 17 Pro was announced on September 9, 2025, by Apple at its annual iPhone event. It’s still the “smaller” Pro model here, with a 6.3-inch display. Which is really great to see, especially for those who want a smaller phone but still need the “Pro features”.

Here’s everything you need to know about the iPhone 17 Pro.

How much does the Apple iPhone 17 Pro Cost?

Every year there are rumors about Apple potentially raising prices, and well, this year that did not happen. Apple did increase the base storage to 256GB so technically the starting price is now higher this year at $1,099. But that is the same price as the iPhone 16 Pro 256GB last year.

Apple is also offering a 512GB model for $1,299 and a 1TB model for $1,499. And those that want a 2TB of storage iPhone, the iPhone 17 Pro Max is available for $1,999.

Of course, as usual, there are all sorts of deals available for buying the iPhone 17 Pro, including getting up to $1,100 off of your new phone through the carriers.

Where can I buy the Apple iPhone 17 Pro?

You can purchase the iPhone 17 Pro starting on September 12 from virtually every retailer. Of course, the best place to buy your new iPhone is going to be Apple’s website. From Apple’s website, you can purchase the iPhone 17 Pro unlocked and pay it off in full. Or you can finance it through your carrier and take advantage of carrier deals through Apple, finance it with your Apple Card, or use the Apple iPhone Upgrade Program.

One of the big advantages to buying through Apple is that they open up at 8AM on launch day for iPhone pickup. So if you need your new iPhone right away, this is the best way to do it.

What carriers does the iPhone 17 Pro work on?

It should come as no surprise that the iPhone 17 Pro does work on all three major carrier networks in the US. That’s AT&T, T-Mobile, and Verizon. Obviously, that also means that it will work on all MVNOs. However, the only caveat here is that it does need to have eSIM support since the iPhone 17 Pro is once again eSIM only for the US. Since Apple has been going eSIM only in the US since the iPhone 14, this shouldn’t be a big deal, though.

What colors does the iPhone 17 Pro come in?

This year, the iPhone 17 Pro does come in three colors once again. But Apple has decided to ditch the usual clear color names like “Blue” and “Pink”. Here are the colors of the new iPhone 17:

  • Cosmic Orange
  • Deep Blue
  • Silver

iPhone 17 Pro Updates

Here’s every update that has been pushed out to the iPhone 17 Pro since its inception.

  • iOS 26.0.1 – Release on September 29, 2025
  • iOS 26.1 – Released on November 3, 2025
  • iOS 26.2 – Released on December 12, 2025

What’s new with iPhone 17 Pro?

Surprisingly, the iPhone 17 Pro did get quite a few upgrades this year. Not only did it get double storage, now starting at 256GB, it also got a pretty big camera improvement. It now has triple 48MP cameras here, with the telephoto lens now being a larger 4x sensor instead of 5x. However, it can shoot 4x at 48MP, and then sensor crop to 8x at 12MP.

Perhaps the biggest update here is actually going to be the new vapor chamber. The last couple of years, Apple has really struggled with keeping the “Pro” models cool, partially thanks to using titanium for the rails. This year, Apple is using an aluminum unibody, which means that a vapor chamber was necessary. It’ll be interesting to see how much cooler it stays versus the iPhone 16 Pro.

There’s another big camera change for the iPhone 17 series as well, and that’s making the front-facing camera a square lens. So it is now an 18-megapixel sensor, and with it being square, it means you can take landscape selfies without having to rotate your iPhone. Which is really nice actually.

Of course, Apple has also added a very bold color in Cosmic Orange. Perhaps the boldest color we’ve seen on the “Pro” models in quite some time.

What cases are available for the iPhone 17 Pro?

Apple has a few new cases available for the iPhone 17, and so does virtually every other case company. We’ll be updating this in the coming weeks with more cases, and releasing our own Best Cases buying guide, so stay tuned.

Apple Silicon Case

MGFH4 - 8

The tried and true Apple Silicon Case is back again. This year, it is available in six colors: Midnight, Neon Yellow, Purple Fog, Orange, Terra Cotta, and Black. These loosely follow the same color options as the base model iPhone 17 Pro.

Apple TechWoven Case

MGF64 - 9

This new TechWoven case is replacing the FineWoven case that Apple debuted with the iPhone 15 series a couple of years ago. Those didn’t fair to well, so hopefully these work better.

Apple says that this case is made from a custom technical woven fabric, made from 100% recycled polyster. This is going to make it far more environmentally conscious than leather cases.

Should you buy the iPhone 17 Pro?

Surprisingly, the iPhone 17 Pro got the fewest updates of the entire iPhone 17 lineup. But it’s still a pretty nice upgrade, especially here in the US with the much larger batteries thanks to Apple finally doing something with that SIM card slot that’s been gone since the iPhone 15 series.
