How much does the Apple iPhone 17 Cost?

Every year there are rumors about Apple potentially raising prices and well, this year that did not happen. Apple did increase the base storage to 256GB across the board, so the price did go on the regular iPhone 17 Pro (but its the same price as the iPhone 16 Pro 256GB from last year). However, the iPhone 17 doubled its storage and stuck to the same $799 price tag. That’s really great to see, especially with most other phones getting price increases.

This year, Apple is offering the base model in two storage configurations: 256GB and 512GB. With that 512GB costing $999. Typically Apple will charge $100 per 128GB of storage (or nowadays, $200 per 256GB).

Where can I buy the Apple iPhone 17?

You can purchase the iPhone 17 starting on September 12 from virtually every retailer. Of course, the best place to buy your new iPhone is going to be Apple’s website. From Apple’s website, you can purchase the iPhone 17 unlocked and pay it off in full. Or you can finance it through your carrier and take advantage of carrier deals through Apple, finance it with your Apple Card, or use the Apple iPhone Upgrade Program.

One of the big advantages to buying through Apple is that they open up at 8AM on launch day for iPhone pickup. So if you need your new iPhone right away, this is the best way to do it.

What carriers does the iPhone 17 work on?

It should come as no surprise that the iPhone 17 does work on all three major carrier networks in the US. That’s AT&T, T-Mobile, and Verizon. Obviously, that also means that it will work on all MVNOs. However, the only caveat here is that it does need to have eSIM support since the iPhone 17 is once again eSIM only for the US. Since Apple has been going eSIM only in the US since the iPhone 14, this shouldn’t be a big deal, though.

What colors does the iPhone 17 come in?

This year, the iPhone 17 does come in five colors once again. But Apple has decided to ditch the usual clear color names like “Blue” and “Pink”. Here are the colors of the new iPhone 17:

  • Lavendar
  • Sage
  • Mist Blue
  • White
  • Black

iPhone 17 Updates

Here’s every update that has been pushed out to the iPhone 17 since its inception.

  • iOS 26.0.1 – Release on September 29, 2025
  • iOS 26.1 – Released on November 3, 2025
  • iOS 26.2 – Released on December 12, 2025

What’s new with iPhone 17?

Surprisingly, the iPhone 17 did get quite a few upgrades this year. Of course, the big one that everyone has been waiting on is, ProMotion. Also known as 120Hz. Finally, Apple has added 120Hz to the iPhone 17, catching up to its competitors. It also doubled the storage for the same price. So now $799 buys you 256GB of storage instead of 128GB. There is also a 512GB model available.

Apple also updated the cameras this time around. So there’s still only two cameras here, with a 48-megapixel Fusion camera for the wide angle. But the ultra-wide angle has been upgraded to a 48-megapixel Fusion camera as well. Which really improves macro photography.

The front-facing camera is also a 18-megapixel center-stage camera. So it will work a lot like the Mac and iPad cameras, where it will now keep you in-frame on Facetime and other apps.

The iPhone 17 is also made from 30% recycled content, which is really nice to see, but it doesn’t really affect the end-user that much. Apple also increased the brightness to 3,000nits of peak brighness. Which is higher than Samsung’s 2,600nits. Speaking of the display, it also has Ceramic Shield 2, which is 3x better at preventing scratches and screen shattering.

What cases are available for the iPhone 17?

Apple has a few new cases available for the iPhone 17, and so does virtually eveyr other case company. We’ll be updating this in the coming weeks with more cases, and releaseing our own Best Cases buying guide, so stay tuned.

Apple Silicon Case

MGF04 - 10

The tried and true Apple Silicon Case is back again. This year, it is available in five colors: Neon Yellow, Purple Fog, Anchor Blue, Light Moss and Black. These loosely follow the same color options as the base model iPhone 17.

Beats Rugged Case

MGK04 - 11

The Beats Rugged Case is back again this year, and surprisingly it doesn’t have a Camera Control button but rather a cutout. It’s also available in a slew of colors including Alpine Gray, Sierra Orange, Rocky Blue and Everest Black.

Should you buy the iPhone 17?

Now the big question, should you upgrade this year? Well, if you’re coming from an iPhone 16 or even an iPhone 15, probably not. But if you’re on an iPhone 14 or older, then this is a good time to upgrade. That’s a pretty big upgrade from the iPhone 14 to iPhone 17, especially when it comes to cameras and the display. Not to mention performance and battery life.
