Apple has just officially announced the AirPods Pro 3 , the latest generation of its pro-model true wireless earbuds, complete with improved noise cancellation, several new features, and an overhauled design to promote better comfort. The AirPods Pro series has always centered around active noise cancellation as one of the key features, often touting its ANC as some of if not the best ANC for earbuds on the market.
Apple is once again claiming that its AirPods Pro 3 will offer the best ANC. During its WWDC event on September 9, the company said that “AirPods Pro 3 will have the best active noise cancellation of any in-ear headphones on the market.” It’s a bold claim, to be sure. But the ANC on the AirPods Pro 2 was highly regarded. So, it’s understandable why Apple is confident in making that statement. This also means Apple is claiming the ANC is better than Google’s Pixel Buds Pro 2 . Not to mention Sony’s WF-1000XM4 earbuds. Active Noise Cancellation is also one of many new improvements and changes coming with Apple’s latest earbuds. Not the least of which is the updated design and fit.
The Apple AirPods Pro 3 remove four times as much noise as the original AirPods Pro
If you have an older pair of AirPods Pro, you might be wondering whether or not you should update to the latest model. While you likely don’t need to if you have a working pair, they do provide significant improvements. Apple confirms that the AirPods Pro 3 remove four times as much noise as the original AirPods Pro. With that in mind, updating might be a good idea if you typically deal with a noisy commute every day.
The active noise cancellation in the AirPods Pro 3 is also two times as good as the ANC in the previous models. The secret to this improvement lies within the new multiport acoustic architecture inside the earbuds. Apple says this precisely controls the airflow around the ear, which translates to an “exceptional spatial listening experience.”
Apple has updated the Adaptive EQ as well. Plus, the company says that transparency has been updated to make the voices of the user and the person they’re speaking to sound more natural than ever.

The earbuds have a better fit, and Apple is bringing live translation to AirPods
Amongst the entirety of Apple’s vast set of improvements coming with the AirPods Pro 3, better battery life is not to be ignored. Apple says the AirPods Pro 3 will last longer than the AirPods Pro 2. Boasting up to 10 hours on a single charge while transparency mode is active. One of the more important changes is Apple’s redesign of each earbud. Apple says it used over 10,000 ear scans and over 100,000 hours of research to craft an earbud that’s smaller. “To deliver this improved fit for even more people, the internal architecture was completely re-engineered to make each AirPod smaller, while the external geometry of the ear tip was aligned to the center of the body for increased stability,” Apple said.
The AirPods Pro 3 also come with five different sizes of ear tips now. Additionally, the ear tips are foam-infused to provide a more secure fit when placed inside the ear. Another new feature coming with the AirPods Pro 3 is live translation. Users will be able to pop their earbuds in and have them translate different languages spoken to them in real-time. When they speak back, the translated responses will pop up on their iPhone’s display. It gets even better if you’re speaking to another person in a different language who also has a pair of AirPods Pro 3 in. Live translation works in real time for each user. So you can speak naturally to each other as if you were speaking in the same language. AirPods Pro 3 retail for $249.99, and they’re available for pre-order from today, with a full launch coming on September 19.
