AT&T is making another push into the smart home market by launching its new bundle offer that combines Google Nest hardware, Abode monitoring services, and cellular backup. Called the “ AT&T Connected Life ,” the bundle is designed to keep homes secure even during internet or power outages. The move marks a renewed effort after AT&T’s earlier Digital Life platform was shut down.

The AT&T Connected Life relies primarily on the home Wi-Fi. However, it can automatically switch to the carrier ‘s mobile network if the connectivity fails. It includes a battery-powered hub that ensures the system continues to run even during power cuts. This particular addition addresses one of the common concerns related to security systems.

AT&T offers two equipment options: Starter and Advanced. The $399 Starter Kit includes a Google Nest Doorbell, one interior motion sensor, two door or window sensors, and the central hub. Customers can also finance the package for $11.08 per month over three years. On the other hand, the Advanced Kit expands the smart home bundle with additional sensors, a wall-mounted keypad, a key fob, and a choice of an indoor or outdoor Google Nest Cam. It is priced at $699 or $19.42 per month for three years. This bundle is meant for larger homes.

The smartphone carrier re-enters the smart home market

Google has confirmed that the bundle includes the last-generation Nest Cam models, and not the ones announced in October this year. Anyway, to activate the Connected Life bundle, the user must have an AT&T wireless or home internet plan and select a monthly service tier. Plans include cloud video history, smart alerts, and optional cellular backup, with costs varying based on features, making the service adaptable for different security needs.

AT&T charges $10.99 per month for the entry Connected Life plan. It includes 30 days of event video history, smart notifications, and cellular backup. The other plan costs $21.99 per month. It adds 24/7 professional monitoring through Abode. This service can automatically contact the police or medical services during emergencies. It can also help customers qualify for insurance discounts, depending on provider policies. There is no annual contract, and customers can change plans month to month.
