AYANEO Pocket Vert pre-orders are officially live, but don’t go racing just yet to grab this nostalgia-laden retro handheld, as you might want to consider the price before you decide to plunk down a bunch of money. AYANEO officially announced the Pocket Vert back in November. At that time, the company didn’t announce any details about price or availability.
That has changed. The official Indiegogo page for this premium handheld is live, and pre-orders for the Pocket Vert indicate that, as suspected, it isn’t going to be a very inexpensive device. Then again, most of AYANEO’s handhelds come at a premium . So a high price isn’t exactly new territory here. That being said, AYANEO does also pack in plenty of new features and, given the cost of some components these days, the pricing is at least understandable. Still, if you were hoping this would be near the price of the Game Boy, where it obviously takes heavy inspiration from, you’ll be disappointed.
AYANEO Pocket Vert pre-orders start at $339
AYANEO will have three different models of the Pocket Vert available, and the price starts at $339. It’s worth noting that this is the actual retail price. However, those who pre-order early enough will get the super early bird pricing, which starts at $269. So, there’s an incentive to secure your unit as early as you can. The $339 model will come with 128GB of internal storage and 8GB of RAM. The next model up is $419 and will come with 256GB of storage, so you get double the space for games. It also has 12GB of RAM.
Both these models will come in Midnight Black or Moon White colors. Of course, the most stunning of the three, the Lava Red model, will retail for $439. It has the same amount of storage and RAM as the second-tier model. This is nearly 5x as much as the original Game Boy. Is that a lot for a retro handheld? Yes. However, the Pocket Vert offers a lot more gaming versatility , with loads of special features. For example, the hidden touchpads that sit between the d-pad and the three bottom buttons. There’s the massive amount of internal storage as well, not to mention the back buttons, the high-resolution panel, and the premium design.
AYANEO says the global shipping time is set for February 2026, but this doesn’t appear to include the Lava Red model , which currently lists no shipping date.
