Now, most power banks tend to rely on traditional lithium-ion batteries, the same tech used in our smartphones. While that’s fine, BMX is challenging that narrative. That’s why at CES 2026, BMX showed off the SolidSafe Air , a power bank that uses solid-state batteries.

The company claims that this has allowed them to create a power bank that measures a mere 6.8mm thin. That’s slimmer than some phones out there! We know that silicon-carbon battery technology is quite popular among smartphones these days, so BMX’s choice to go solid-state is an interesting one.

However, it’s not a bad choice, either. Lithium-ion batteries rely on liquid electrolytes. If damaged or if there is some kind of defect, it can lead to swelling. But BMX isn’t stopping with the battery. Even the housing of the battery has been taken into consideration. The company has opted to use an “Aero-grade” build, which consists of a titanium-copper alloy body. This makes it both light and tough at the same time. They even managed to squeeze an LCD for real-time monitoring.

How much is it, and when can you buy it?

According to BMX, the company says the SolidSafe Air is expected to ship in the second quarter of 2026 . The company has not mentioned how much it will cost, but prepare your wallets. The use of solid-state batteries and their titanium-copper alloy body all scream premium pricing.

While we doubt it will cost you an arm and a leg, it might be pricier compared to other 5,000mAh power banks in the market. But if you value the safety features and slim form factor, maybe that’s worth spending on.
