Ever since YouTube started doing its annual Rewind series to end the year, many companies have hopped on board, such as Spotify, Apple Music, and more. So, it doesn’t really come as a surprise that OpenAI is getting in on the action with its yearly recap for the end of 2025.

ChatGPT yearly recap

According to OpenAI’s announcement on X, ChatGPT is rolling out its yearly recap for 2025. Unfortunately, it looks like this feature isn’t available to users worldwide. The post says that it is only rolling out to users in the US, UK, Canada, New Zealand, and Australia for now. Also, those users need to have reference saved memory and reference chat history turned on. Obviously that is required if ChatGPT wants to sum up the year for you.

The recap, called “Year in Review,” will show users a bunch of stats . This includes how many messages you sent ChatGPT in 2025. It will also use AI to generate a piece of pixel art that is themed around some of the topics you discussed with it throughout the year. It also offers personalized summaries, like the prevalent theme in your chats. The recap will also describe your chat style, and show you which day you sent the most messages to the chatbot.

It also does an MBTI-style archetype thing which puts you in a category based on how you used the app. It’s a fun little feature if you’re wondering how much time you spent with ChatGPT this year. Hopefully OpenAI will roll it out to users in other countries soon, or if not this year, then maybe next year.

On the back of multiple updates

The rollout of the Year in Review feature is on the back of several updates OpenAI has made to ChatGPT in the past couple of months. The most recent update comes in the form of granular controls over ChatGPT’s characteristics . This lets users further fine tune how much of a personality the AI has, whether you want it to use less headings, more headings, less emojis, and so on.

OpenAI also introduced a feature that lets users pin conversations . This makes it easier for users to find important conversations or conversations they want to reference or get back to. We also cannot forget how OpenAI launched a dedicated ChatGPT app store . This expands on ChatGPT’s functionality by letting third-party developers leverage the AI to create new experiences.
