AI is quickly becoming integrated in our lives. We’re seeing it just about everywhere, including Google Search, a tool that many of us use today. And now, it’s becoming even more integrated because if you’re a Claude user, it looks like Google Chrome plugin is finally here .

Claude plugin for Chrome is here

So, what can the Claude plugin for Chrome do? At its most basic, the plugin is essentially a way for users to access Claude within their browser. Instead of opening a separate window or tab, you can just click the Claude button and use it while you’re browsing other websites. Of course, the functionality goes beyond that.

According to Anthropic, Claude for Chrome can fill out forms for users, manage their calendar and emails, and even complete multi-step workflows based on their prompts. Basically, if there’s something you need to do on a website, you can ask Claude to try and do it for you.

There’s also integration with Claude Code. It allows users to record their workflow so they can “teach” Claude what they want it to do. Now, obviously there are some concerns here, like prompt injection risks . However, Anthropic says that they have built-in defenses to prevent that from happening.

This includes site-level permissions that allow users to grant or revoke Claude access to specific websites anytime they want. There are also action confirmations that ask for permissions before taking “high-risk actions.” That being said, Anthropic notes that there are still some vulnerabilities that remain, so we suggest you proceed with caution and maybe don’t use it for things like banking.

Anthropic’s take on AI browsers

We have to say that Anthropic’s release of the Chrome plugin is a great idea. Other companies like Perplexity and OpenAI have launched their own AI browsers to try and take on Chrome. That is ambitious and also hard to convince users to give up on a browser they might have been using for decades.
