The streaming landscape has evolved dramatically over the past few years, with “free” ad-supported television (FAST) channels becoming an increasingly important part of how we consume content. What began as niche offerings from pioneers like Pluto TV, Tubi, and The Roku Channel has now become a major battleground for streaming platforms seeking to capture viewer attention without subscription fees.
Google TV has entered this competitive space in a significant way with its ambitious Google TV Freeplay initiative. Offering an impressive library of over 800 free channels, with new additions appearing almost weekly, Google’s platform has quickly established itself as a major player in the FAST channel ecosystem.
This guide will be continuously updated as Google adds more channels to the Freeplay lineup.

What are “Free Channels” on Google TV?
You might be wondering, what are these free channels, and why are they free? They are what is called “ Free Ad-Supported TV ” or FAST for short. Basically, these are channels that run 24/7 and are generally themed. They have ads like normal TV, but the difference is that you don’t have to pay for them. In fact, on many services, you don’t even need to have an account to start watching.
There are many themed channels for popular shows like Baywatch, Family Feud, Top Gear, Are We There Yet? and many more.

Every Free Channel available on Google TV
Here’s the current list of channels available on Freeplay on Google TV. This list is constantly updating as Google adds more channels. These all require no app installations, which is great for those with Chromecast with Google TV , as there is limited space there. You can access these by opening the Freeplay app or going over to the Live Tab. The Live tab now shows FAST channels from all of your installed apps, as well as your Pay TV apps like YouTube TV , Hulu + Live TV , and Sling TV .
In February 2025, Google removed a slew of FreePlay channels . These include: The Hill TV, Dog Whisperer with Cesar Milan, Dove Channel, Comedy Dynamics, The Bob Ross Channel, Shades of Black, OutTV Proud, Dazn Ringside, and Dazn Women’s Football.
Currently, there’s a total of 171 channels that are available in Google TV FreePlay. With more to come.

Even though you’re not logging into an account, you can still choose your favorite channels. Here’s how you do it.
- Go to the Live Tab or open the Google TV Freeplay app.
- Now in the channel guide, find a channel you want to set as one of your favorites.
- Go to the channel name and select it. Now, a star will show up to confirm that the channel is in your favorites now.
- At the top of the channel guide, you can go do to the “Favorites” section and find all of your favorite channels.
This can be very useful, seeing as there are so many channels available right now, not just from Freeplay, but also other FAST services.
