Facebook has changed significantly over the years. What started out as a way for people to stay in touch with each other has evolved, and we’re not sure if it has evolved in a good way. These days, it feels like our feed is cluttered with spam and content that we’re not interested in. If this has stopped you from using Facebook as much as before, you’re not alone. However, Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg wants to change that. The company has announced that the Facebook app is getting a redesign, and it’s starting to feel a lot like Instagram.
Facebook app is getting a redesign
According to Meta , as part of the Facebook app redesign, they’re making improvements and changes to your Feed, search, and navigation systems. The company says that these changes will make it easier for users to find what they need. It will also help them “dive deeper” into your interests.
For starters, your Feed will eventually look simpler and more immersive. Whenever users post multiple photos, they’ll be arranged in a standardized grid. Users can also double-tap photos to like them. Sounds familiar, doesn’t it? Users can also expand on a Feed in full screen when they click into it.
But the changes don’t stop there. Meta also announced that navigation to Reels, Friends, Marketplace, and Profile will be moved front-and-center in your tab bar. This is supposed to make them easier to access. The menu is also being revamped with cleaner notifications. Search results will also be shown in a more immersive grid layout.
Meta says that it is testing a new full-screen viewer that lets users explore photo and video results without losing your place in search. And if ultimately you don’t like what you see, Meta is adding the ability for users to give feedback. You can tell the company why content may not be relevant to you.
Is Facebook still relevant today?
That being said, we have to wonder if these changes will make users use the Facebook app more than before. Social media has changed dramatically over the years. Once it was a tool for friends and families to stay close and connected. These days, we’re starting to see less personal posts on social media.
Instead, we’re being drowned in memes, videos of people dancing, pages upon pages of rants, and more. We do appreciate the changes Meta is making to the Facebook app. From what we can tell, it does look a lot cleaner and organized. If you have been staying off Facebook on your phone, maybe these changes could make it worth revisiting again .
