Huawei is known for its weird camera bump designs. The brand usually doesn’t follow traditional camera layouts, such as square or circular. But with the upcoming Huawei Mate 80 series, the company seems to be rewriting its camera game. A recently leaked real-life image of the Huawei Mate 80 Pro shows its redesigned and unique camera layout.
Leaked image of Huawei Mate 80 Pro shows unique camera layout
New live image surfacing on the Chinese microblogging platform Weibo shows what’s believed to be the rear panel of Huawei Mate 80 Pro. The first look confirms a redesign of the camera layout . The familiar square layout is gone; instead, Huawei is going for a steel-framed circular bump with a thick rim and an unusual top-centre lens. This could be a periscope or ultra-large main sensor, flanked by smaller pill-shaped cutouts for light and color precision sensors.

The leaked yellow color variant also shows a flat-edged frame and Huawei’s signature dual-button setup on the right side. The overall design language remains intact. Only the camera bump and the placement of the camera lenses are changed. The triangular lens placement is pretty common among devices with large sensor cameras.
Huawei isn’t only changing the aesthetics, but a new 200MP camera is also coming
Early leaks reveal that Huawei is testing a 200MP camera for its Mate 80 lineup. This high-resolution sensor may be included in both vanilla and Pro variants. Several Chinese brands, including OPPO and Vivo, are also including this 200MP high-resolution sensor on their flagships. However, it’s unclear whether Huawei will use this 200MP sensor for its periscope lens or the main wide lens.
Speculations, however, suggest that a 200MP sensor will be used in the periscope lens to enhance zoom capabilities. A similar trend can be observed in other Chinese flagship devices.
