We are moving closer to the official launch of the foldable iPhone as a new leak reveals its battery capacity . The source claims that the foldable will feature the largest battery capacity ever seen on an iPhone. Alongside the battery details, the report shows the thinner body design of the phone, which is reportedly inspired by other Apple products.
Foldable iPhone to have the biggest battery capacity, claims a new leak
The Chinese tipster Fixed Focus Digital on Weibo claims that the upcoming foldable iPhone may use a 5,500mAh battery . If true, this would be the largest battery ever placed inside an iPhone. It would even beat the 5,088mAh cell expected in the iPhone 17 Pro Max. However, the capacity is still smaller than that of the competitor’s foldable . It may get an aggressive battery optimization, just like the current iPhones.
Moreover, this is not the first time the foldable iPhone ‘s battery capacity has been leaked. Early rumors had hinted at a possible battery capacity of somewhere between 5000 and 5500mAh. The current leak simply adds more weight to the higher end of that scale. Apple devices are known for strong battery performance, despite carrying a relatively smaller battery capacity. Similar optimization is expected in the coming foldables as well.
The design change hints at a practical layout
Another leak reveals the possible design of the foldable iPhone . The tipster Instant Digital reveals that Apple has shifted the volume buttons on its foldable to the top right edge. This is similar to the layout seen on the iPad mini. The Power and Camera Control buttons are still expected to sit on the right side of the device.
The end design change is reportedly linked to the internal hardware structure. Since the motherboard is placed on the right side, the company can avoid running cables across the hinge by using the new design. The left side may be used almost entirely for the battery. The same source repeats that Touch ID will be built into the power button, while Face ID may be skipped in favor of a simple hole-punch camera.
