Samsung is preparing to shake up the mid-range smartphone market in early 2026. Leaked software codes suggest that the upcoming Samsung Galaxy A37 and Galaxy A57 will feature significant specs upgrades to improve camera quality. By integrating larger sensors, the company seems intent on narrowing the gap between its affordable models and its premium flagships.

Samsung’s mid-range camera specs upgrade: Galaxy A37 & A57 get bigger sensors

The most notable revelation from the leak (by Smartprix ) is that both the Galaxy A37 and A57 will share the same high-end main sensor. They could feature a 50MP Sony IMX906, although Samsung may use its in-house ISOCELL S5KGNJ sensor in certain regions.

This is a notable step up from the sensors found in previous generations. The IMX906 uses a 1/1.56-inch optical format, which is considerably larger than the 1/1.95-inch sensor used in the Galaxy A36. In photography, sensor size is everything; a larger surface area captures more light, which generally leads to better performance in dim environments. It also allows for wider dynamic range and less digital noise.

The gap between models

While the main camera levels the playing field, there will still be differences between the secondary sensors . The Galaxy A57 takes a more premium approach with its ultra-wide and selfie capabilities. It is tipped to feature a 13MP ISOCELL ultra-wide sensor and a 12MP ISOCELL front-facing camera.

On the other hand, the more affordable Galaxy A37 keeps things a bit more modest. It reportedly sticks with an 8MP ultra-wide sensor and uses a GalaxyCore-branded 12MP sensor for selfies. Lastly, both phones seem to share the same 5MP macro camera that will be useful for close-up shots.

Both the Galaxy A37 and Galaxy A57 promise big improvements in camera quality. By using larger physical sensors, they should be able to produce images that look more natural and professional right out of the box.

Of course, these details come from prototypes and early software parameters. As we approach the rumored February 2026 launch, Samsung could still tweak these configurations. However, if these specs hold true, the next generation of the A-series might finally offer the camera experience that many users have been waiting for.
