Samsung introduced a brand new design for its TWS lineup last year with the Buds 3. It brought a new stem design, resembling that of the Apple AirPods. For the successor, however, the company may not bring a radical new design but will still focus on audio quality improvements and other features. One among them could be the enhanced gestures. The successor, presumably the Galaxy Buds 4 and Buds 4 Pro, could enhance the real-time language translation capabilities for seamless access.

Galaxy Buds 4 could enhance real-time language translation

Android Authority has discovered new text strings in the code of leaked One UI 8.5 files. This suggests that the Galaxy Buds 4 and Buds 4 Pro will have a pinch-and-hold gesture to launch Interpreter Mode, which is designed for real-time language translation. You can apparently pinch and hold the earbuds’ stem to pause and resume translation. This is similar to Apple AirPods.

Though the feature is available on the Galaxy Buds 3 and Buds 3 Pro, you have to first start Interpreter Mode on your compatible Galaxy phone or tablet and then start using the pinch-and-hold gesture to pause and resume translation.

You don’t have to pull out your phone every time

This will reportedly change on the Galaxy Buds 4 lineup. You don’t need to start Interpreter Mode on your phone before using the gesture. This will reportedly only work when your Galaxy phone is in range and connected with the Galaxy Buds 4. It isn’t clear whether this new change will extend to the Galaxy Buds 3 via a software update.

Besides this, the Galaxy Buds 4 Pro may introduce a new “Find Your Phone” feature, which allows you to find your phone by pressing a button on the earbuds’ case. The Pro model may feature a large metal grille adorning the side of each earbud. This could be an aesthetic change rather than functional. Besides these, not much else is known in terms of hardware specs at the moment. The Galaxy Buds 4 may debut alongside the Galaxy S26 flagships.

Meanwhile, One UI 8.5 will debut in a stable form on the Galaxy S26 series early next year. The beta program could kick off on December 8th.
