Samsung is on a roll. After the Galaxy S25, S24, and S23 series, the South Korean tech giant is now rolling out the December 2025 security update to the Galaxy S22 series. It goes without saying that this will make the lineup more secure. The update reportedly fixes 57 security vulnerabilities in the previous version of the OS.

Galaxy S22 lineup gets the December 2025 security update

The December 2025 update to the Galaxy S22 is reportedly rolling out in India currently. But it should expand to more regions in a few days. The update weighs 485.19MB in size and carries the firmware version S90xEOXMCGYL1. You can update to the latest firmware when it hits your region from Settings > Software update > Download and install.

As said, the December 2025 security patch fixes 57 security flaws in the previous version. Among them, six are reportedly rated critical, and the rest are considered high-risk. Samsung is fixing 11 security flaws of its own, specifically affecting its own phones.

One UI 8.5 is on its way

Meanwhile, Samsung is busy developing its next major OS version — One UI 8.5. It had already kicked off the beta program for the Galaxy S25 series earlier this month. Though the Galaxy S22 series is eligible to get the next iteration, Samsung hasn’t given out a clear rollout schedule yet. The stable One UI 8.5 will debut with the Galaxy S26 series early next year and will gradually expand to all eligible phones and tablets.
