A wild rumor has just surfaced from a well-known source. The information comes from Ice Universe, a Chinese tipster, who claims that Samsung has decided to “ urgently restart the Galaxy S26+ project .” TheElec published the same information .
The Samsung Galaxy S26+ could make a shocking comeback
So, based on this information, the Samsung Galaxy S26+ may be coming after all. The tipster says that Samsung decided to do this because of “the Galaxy S25 Edge’s below-expected sales and the bleak future of the iPhone Air .”
The tipster was also very critical of this decision. He said that “it’s ridiculous,” and that “Samsung is now a pure speculator, with no independent vision, following Apple’s lead.” He also added that Samsung has been “led into a trap by Apple and forced to urgently revise their plans.”
If true, this really is kind of ridiculous. It’s October 1st, and the Galaxy S26 series is expected to arrive in January next year. From everything we’ve seen thus far, the Galaxy S26 Pro, Galaxy S26 Edge, and Galaxy S26 Ultra are coming. That’s what our sources said as well.
It is possible that Samsung has decided to change its mind at the last moment, of course. If that’s the case, then Ice Universe’s reaction is kind of understandable. It doesn’t make all that much sense.
We’ve exclusively revealed designs of all three Galaxy S26 phones
As a reminder, we’ve exclusively revealed the designs of all three upcoming Galaxy S26 phones, including the Galaxy S26 Pro , Galaxy S26 Edge , and Galaxy S26 Ultra . The Galaxy S26 Pro will be replacing the Galaxy S25, directly. The Galaxy S26 Edge is coming to replace the Galaxy S25 Edge and Galaxy S25+ at the same time, unless this rumor ends up being true, and the Galaxy S26+ ends up arriving after all. Needless to say, the Galaxy S26 Ultra replaces the Galaxy S25 Ultra.
All three of these phones, as already mentioned, are expected to arrive in January next year. Nothing has been confirmed just yet, but that is Samsung’s release cycle. The arrival of the Galaxy S26+ could mess that up, however. We’ll see, it’s all pure speculation at this point.
