According to a new rumor by Chun, a tipster, the Samsung Galaxy S26 series will kill apps more aggressively in the background … because of AI. Do note that this is just a rumor at this point, but let’s see what it’s about.
The Galaxy S26 phones could end up killing background apps more aggressively, AI is to blame
The tipster went to X to explain that with One UI 8.5, the Galaxy S26 series will get some “exclusive features” . He added that the company will be using the ‘Guass model’, which will be “integrated deeply into the system” for the first time.
He added that, because of all that was said, the Galaxy S26 will be “automatically killing apps aggressively to have enough space for AI model.” The tipster also said that app devs won’t like this, of course.
In a separate tweet, he elaborated more on the issue . He added: “The introduction of AI on device Guass model is also the reason why lots of AI features are currently undecided for S25 series and below since previous models are server-based, not on device and requires the internet all the time.”
The devices are expected to arrive in Q1 2026
As a reminder, the Samsung Galaxy S26 series is expected to arrive in Q1 2026. We still don’t know if it will be January or February, but both months have been rumored. Either way, the Galaxy S26, Galaxy S26+, and Galaxy S26 Ultra are coming.
The initially rumored Galaxy S26 Pro and Galaxy S26 Edge have been scrapped. Samsung reverted to its initial lineup, the one that has been coming for years.
Rumors and leaks are not pointing to many changes for the devices, compared to the Galaxy S25 series, at least in terms of design and hardware specs. There will obviously be changes on the software side of things.
If you’d like to check out the design of the Galaxy S26+ and Galaxy S26 Ultra , we’ve exclusively revealed them. The Galaxy S26 will essentially look like a smaller version of the Galaxy S26+, as was the case in previous years.
