For years, Samsung fans and critics alike have called out the company for its cautious approach to charging technology. While competitors offer speeds that top 100W, Galaxy flagship wired and wireless charging speeds have often felt stuck in neutral. That may finally be changing, as new code snippets point to significant charging speed upgrades—wired and wireless—coming with the Galaxy S26 series.

References found within the upcoming One UI 8.5 firmware update explicitly mention “Super fast wireless charging” (via Android Authority ). This new branding suggests Samsung is preparing to move beyond the 15W wireless standard that has defined the Galaxy S lineup since the S20 series in 2020.

Galaxy S26 Ultra rumored to get 60W wired and 25W wireless charging speed upgrade

Rumors circulating in the tech community match with this code discovery. The base Galaxy S26 and the S26 Plus could see wireless charging speeds increase from 15W to 20W. Meanwhile, the top-tier Galaxy S26 Ultra is rumored to jump to 25W wireless charging. Analysts suggest these improvements could slash wireless charging times by as much as 40%.

But the speed upgrades don’t stop there. The wired charging speeds are also reportedly getting a necessary lift. The Galaxy S26 Ultra may finally break its 45W limit and gain support for up to 60W fast charging . However, it would maintain the same 5,000mAh battery capacity as years ago. Meanwhile, the Galaxy S26 Plus could maintain its 4,900mAh battery and 45W wired charging speed. Lastly, the base Galaxy S26 would receive a slightly larger 4,300mAh battery (up from the S25’s 4,000mAh) with 25W wired fast charging.

Will it be enough?

The fast charging segment on Android has seen enormous improvements in recent years. So, it was about time Samsung made some progress in this area. Looking at the figures other brands are offering, some might still find the rumored 60W wired and 25W wireless charging speeds of the Galaxy S26 Ultra conservative. But at this point, any upgrade to the charging experience is a welcome change.
