Some early Samsung Galaxy S27 Ultra info has popped up, and it’s all about the phone’s cameras. It seems like Samsung will finally bring upgraded camera hardware to its flagship smartphone.

The Samsung Galaxy S27 Ultra could deliver a major camera hardware overhaul

The information comes from a trusted source, Ice Universe. He shared the information via X, mentioning quite a few upgrades. Based on this, the main camera, the ultrawide camera, and the front camera will get replaced.

Yes, he used the word ‘replace’, not ‘upgrade’ or something like that. We are, however, hoping that these will be upgrades, as the camera hardware that Samsung is using on its ‘Ultra’ phones is quite dated at this point.

We’re also not sure if by ‘telephoto’ camera he meant a regular telephoto camera, or the periscope telephoto camera. The Galaxy S25 Ultra has both, and so will the Galaxy S26 Ultra. Let’s assume it’s the regular telephoto shooter.

Unfortunately, however, the tipster did not share any specific camera sensors or anything like that. It’s way too early for that, but let’s hope these will be significant improvements.

Samsung’s competition is constantly raising the ante

Samsung’s competition has been using much more powerful camera hardware for a while now. Some of the upcoming phones, like the OPPO Find X9 Ultra and Vivo X300 Ultra, are expected to raise the bar even higher.

Both Sony and OmniVision announced truly powerful near 1-inch 200-megapixel camera sensors at the end of last year, so there’s plenty to choose from. These are only some examples. Let’s hope that Samsung will get the hint.

Speaking of the company’s products, the Samsung Galaxy S26 series is expected to launch in February. February 25 is rumored, while the devices are tipped to go on sale in early March. Nothing has been confirmed just yet, however. We’ve already shown you designs of the Galaxy S26+ and Galaxy S26 Ultra , while the Galaxy S26 popped up recently next to the ‘Ultra’ model .
