The Samsung Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 is something of a unicorn at the moment. It’s a device that Samsung hasn’t confirmed exists, but it’s very likely that the company is going to release a second-generation model of the watch. It’s also something that consumers who are fans of the original Galaxy Watch Ultra have been hoping for. A new rumor suggests that Samsung plans to actually release a Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 sometime in 2026.

Some consumers were surely hoping that Samsung would launch a new model this year, but that never came to pass. It did launch a refreshed version of the original model, which came with more storage. Other than that, it was essentially the same exact watch. That might be changing with next year’s crop of devices, which should include the Galaxy Watch 9 series and the Galaxy Z Fold 8 .

The Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 2026 release date rumor matches up with Samsung’s release cycle

Samsung launches a new smartwatch every single year; however, it doesn’t launch a new rugged smartwatch every single year. In fact, the rugged models aren’t that old. Samsung has only released two so far. In the grand scheme of things, it’s a relatively young device series for the company.

That being said, the release cycle of these more rugged models points to the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 coming out next year, if Samsung follows this trend. The Galaxy Watch 5 Pro came out in 2022. Samsung then skipped a rugged watch in 2023 and released the Galaxy Watch 6 Classic, bringing back the rotating bezel. In 2024, it launched the Galaxy Watch 7 and the first Galaxy Watch Ultra. Then this year it went for another classic model alongside the Galaxy Watch 8 (one of the best smartwatches of 2025 ). So, a rugged model has been released every two years. If Samsung follows this again, 2026 makes sense for a release date of the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2, which is what the rumor from Galaxy Club mentions.

Furthermore, it’s claimed that the watches will arrive sometime in July. Launching alongside Samsung’s next foldable phones.
