CES 2026 is becoming a venue for all kinds of tech , be it smart rings, AR Glasses, TVs, Qi2 wireless power banks, and so much more. We’re not complaining, though. GE Lighting is joining the party with its new smart shades. These are pretty affordable, too, at least for motorized shades. They come with a screw-free installation process and are Matter compatible. The built-in battery is claimed to last up to six months on a single charge.

GE Lighting’s new smart shades have the option of blackout and light filtering

The new GE Lighting smart shades will fit windows up to 76 inches . They’re pretty sleek, too, considering they hide all their mounting hardware. The shades should integrate well with your current smart home setup, thanks to Matter compatibility. But if you have an older gear, don’t stress much, as GE is including a remote in the box. You should be able to set schedules that open with sunrise and close at night for effortless privacy.

The GE Lighting smart shades come in simple white and gray fabrics, with a sleek aluminum frame. You’ll have the option of blackout shades that block light completely and light filtering that softly diffuses daylight.

They come with a six-month battery and a high-efficiency motor

The smart shades feature a built-in rechargeable battery that will last up to six months on a single charge. The high-efficiency motor is claimed to offer a whisper-quiet movement. The smart shades will set you back by $299.

GE has reportedly also announced new Canopy smart bulbs at the big tech event. However, the company didn’t clearly say whether these are Matter-compatible, meaning they may not work natively in Apple Home.
