Native screen recording tools are available on Android . It is functional and gets the job done, but is it the best? Probably not. There are tons of third-party options out there that have more features. But the good news is that if you don’t trust third-party screen recorders, it looks like Google is giving the Android screen recording tool an upgrade.
Google gives Android screen recording tool an upgrade

According to a report from Mishaal Rahman over at Android Authority , Google is making some changes to the native Android screen recording tool . In the past, the screen recorder could only capture the entire display. Google has made some improvements over the years, but this upcoming update could be of interest to some users.
For starters, Google has updated the UI of the feature. When users tap the Quick Setting tile, a toolbar will show up over your current screen. It is considerably smaller compared to the previous option, which is good if you don’t want to block the entire display. Next, Google has added a “Show selfie camera” toggle.
This suggests that users can record their screen and a video of themselves at the same time. As Rahman notes, this will come in handy for “let’s play” videos or creating tutorials. The rest of the toggles and options remain the same. This includes recording your device’s audio, enabling the microphone, and showing screen touches.
Post-capture updates
Another big change detailed by Android Authority is what happens after the screen recording is complete. At the moment, when you’re done recording, Android will show a notification telling you your recording is saved. However, in this upcoming update, users will be taken to a new post-capture UI.
This is similar to the editing screen for screenshots. Users will be able to retake the video, edit, delete, or share. Rahman also discovered evidence that suggests that partial screen recording will also be an option. This means that you don’t need to crop the video yourself, and you can just select the area that you need.
It is unclear when we will see these changes arrive. Rahman speculates that it will either arrive in the next stable QPR2 release in December. Alternatively, Google might end up saving it for Android 17 .
