The Go o gle Home app is receiving a major update that changes how users build and manage automation across connected devices. The latest version, available for both iOS and Android users, introduces new features, conditions, and actions that enhance the responsiveness of smart homes. The update aims to make everyday routines easier and more precise.

Google Home gets a new update with improved automation

The latest Google Home update expands the capabilities of automation. It does so by introducing more starters and conditions inside the Google Home interface. Users will now have an option to trigger actions based on media playback states, volume levels, brightness thresholds, or the real-time status of supported smart appliances. This basically means that the routines can now respond when a TV starts playing, or when a washer finishes a cycle.

The automation is always a key part of the smart home ecosystem. And with the new update, the users get finer control without relying on complex third-party tools or custom solutions previously required for advanced setups. Moreover, Google Home chief Anish Kattukaran outlined practical examples that show how flexible these changes can be. Automations may dim lights when a television is active or arm security systems at set times.

The update brings expanded actions and improved experience

The most noticeable improvement in the update would be Expanded Actions. Users can now directly turn specific devices on or off, control blinds, manage lighting effects, and arm security systems. The robot vacuum cleaner support has been added. This allows routines to start, pause, stop, or send cleaners back to their docks automatically.

The rollout is available now on Android and iOS through version 4.6.55.1 of the Google Home app. Further, do keep in mind that the appliance support remains limited to select products for the time being. However, Google has committed to expanding the list of supported appliances in future updates.
