Google just announced 3 new very compelling features for the Galaxy XR

With that being said, let’s focus on the new features . The features that Google and Samsung announced are PC Connect, Likeness, and Travel Mode.

PC Connect is first up. It allows you to mirror your PC screen to the Galaxy XR, basically. You’ll need to use the Google PC Connect app in order to do so. You can either stream the whole desktop or a single app/game to Galaxy XR.

One thing to note is that this feature is currently in beta phase, so there may be some issues still. Either way, it’s one of the most useful features for the Galaxy XR in general. You can easily work without a monitor thanks to this.

It’s said that you can even ask Gemini AI to help you win the game or improve your gameplay while you’re using this feature, which is interesting. Google also said that some PC games, like Cities: Skylines II, can be played on a large, immersive virtual screen, offering a bird’s-eye view.

The Likeness feature can replace you on camera during meetings

The Likeness feature requires you to use the Likeness app, which is currently in beta phase. It allows you to create your lifelike digital representation that you can then use during video calls on Google Meet.

That digital version of you can appear for other people, complete with real-time face expressions. Needless to say, this can be useful when you don’t feel like being on camera, or can’t for some reason.

Travel Mode will be very useful during flights, for example

And last, but not least, Travel Mode. This feature allows you to create an immersive cinema view of your virtual workspace while you’re traveling. That way, your view will remain stable even during flights.

One thing to note, regarding all these features, is that they have started rolling out to the Galaxy XR in the US and South Korea. If you own the headset, you can check them out.
