Google has a solid track record of updating its apps and services with new features. However, we can’t really say that when it comes to Google Keep , which is the company’s note-taking app/service. Given the slow updates, it’s safe to say Keep doesn’t get a lot of attention from Google, but that’s changing gradually. In May, the web version of the app received a text formatting update, followed by a Material 3 makeover on Android earlier this month. Now, it seems Google is working to add the ability to search an existing note in Keep.

You will soon be able to search within notes in Google Keep

The news comes via Android Authority , which first spotted code strings hinting at a new “Find in Note” feature during the teardown of the Keep app v5.25.282.00.90. Worth noting that Google Keep’s search feature within notes is accessible via a three-dot menu button.

While the outlet managed to activate the feature, it couldn’t get it to work. Clicking on the “Find in Note” option apparently crashed the Google Keep app. If you are a regular user of Google Keep, the upcoming search feature within existing notes will be quite useful.

You can search and directly jump to the part that you’re looking for, instead of manually searching within a Google Keep note. While it’s certain that Google is working on the feature, there’s no information about the rollout. We hope that a feature this basic, which should’ve been there from the start, rolls out soon.

The company should consider adding these features, too

No doubt, Google is doing its bit to keep its note-taking app relevant among the masses. However, it should work towards making it even more useful. Besides the ability to search notes, Google Keep should also bring an image-adding option with text blocks in a note. Moreover, in a world where privacy is a must, it’s finally time for Google to introduce password-protected notes in Keep.
