It looks like Google wants to make its Google Tasks platform a single-stop hub for all reminders across its services. Google Keep reminders are already saved to Google Tasks , but that might be changing in the future. Soon, you may not be able create reminders in Google Keep. For what it’s worth, the Cupertino tech giant already removed the ability to create location-based reminders from Google Keep. New evidences suggest this may extend to all reminders.
Google Keep might soon lose the reminders feature
While digging through the Google Keep app with version 5.26.021.01.90 on Android , folks at Android Authority have spotted the UI changes. Apparently, the UI doesn’t have a bell icon anymore to create reminders. With that gone, you will only see icons for pin and archive at the top.
Interestingly, the image shows a new “X” icon in the title area of notes, which is reportedly an upcoming feature. This icon apparently shows up when you edit the title of a note, which should make it easier to delete or clear the complete title field of the note with just a single tap.

It’s not live yet, though
The report further adds that the Reminders option in the sidebar is also gone in the new UI. When creating a reminder within Google Keep, the current UI shows the Google Tasks icon with the time, as the Google Tasks app will deliver the reminder notification. This reminder syncs as intended, and you’ll also see it in the web version of Keep in the same note.
However, with the upcoming change, the same reminder doesn’t show the Tasks icon or the reminder time. It’s as if reminders don’t exist in Google Keep. Having said that, it appears that Google is testing this UI change. It’s not clear if and when it will roll out this change. There’s a chance that Google could go eitherway about this. We’ll be sure to update if things progress.
