Sharing audio during a presentation in Google Meet is not the most pleasant experience. If the audio isn’t from the same tab you’re presenting, your audience won’t hear it. This means you could only share audio from the specific tab you were presenting. This is oddly limiting during a meeting. Well, that’s changing now as Google has announced that users can now share their device audio when presenting a specific window or their entire screen.
Google Meet now allows sharing full system audio
Instead of locking audio sharing to a specific tab, Google Meet now allows you to share sound from your entire device during presentations. Google acknowledges that users were requesting this feature, as it simplifies sharing audio. When you click Present and select either “A window” or “Your entire screen,” you will now see a new option to also share your device audio. If you enable this, everyone in the meeting will hear your computer audio.
The feature is currently available on Apple’s macOS 14.02 or later and Windows 11. It requires Chrome browser version 142 or later. On macOS , when using the feature for the first time, you’ll have to approve a permission prompt from the OS.

Not on by default
The feature is not on by default, meaning you will have to enable it each time you present. While this is a minor inconvenience, we’re at least finally getting rid of the audio sharing limitation. Google also says that the feature is not available for users whose audio is merged with other devices using adaptive sound. This means they will be limited to sharing audio from Chrome tabs only.
Google Meet’s new full system audio sharing feature is rolling out now for Rapid Release domains. It will be available for Scheduled Release domains starting on January 13th, 2026.
