Google Messages might soon get an easier way to fix the RCS chats issue where registrations just show “connecting” or “verifying.” The tech giant may reportedly introduce a tool that will help diagnose the issue quickly. Android Authority has spotted proof of this in the Messages app.
The RCS settings page could get a new “Details” button
The Google Messages app, which is not publicly visible yet, reportedly includes a flag-restricted feature. This includes a new “Details” button on the RCS chat settings screen , which will be present during the registration process. This pop-up reveals technical information like the status code, carrier, and device IDs. Google needs this information to actually figure out the issue, but doesn’t usually get it.

Highlighting the same, a Reddit post by the official GoogleHelpCommunity account asks users to include data like carrier, device model, and app version when reporting an issue. It’s possible that Most users are not aware of this information. Some might be unaware of this advice from Google altogether.
In this context, the new “Details” button is really handy. While it’s not solving the registration failure issue altogether, it is offering a way for users to collect full details. This information can be used for reporting when the issue happens.
Submitting feedback may also get simpler
Additionally, there’s also a built-in “Submit feedback” button. This automatically attaches a screenshot of the details dialog and other system logs for the Message team to diagnose the issues faster. Whether the team addresses the issue on time is a discussion for another day. Once RCS registration is successful, the ‘Details’ option disappears from the settings page, which makes sense.
Considering the RCS Details button is not publicly live yet, there’s no guarantee that it will be rolled out to everyone with future Google Messages updates.
