Google Photos , over the years, has undergone various changes, some of which are aimed at improving the accessibility of the app . Some are quirky, like the ability to leave emoji reactions to shared albums. The latest update now brings changes to the Google Photos viewer. This delivers a simpler look and shuffles some of the options.

Google Photos viewer section gets a redesign

9to5Google rep o rts the new “Photo view” shows off the metadata, including the date, time, and location at the top of every photo. This eliminates the need for an extra swipe action to view this data. Adding these details at the top doesn’t clutter things or get in the way. There’s a pill-shaped button at the top to play motion pictures. The upgrade removes the ‘Cast’ icon at the top. It is now inside a new three-dot menu.

You get a star icon for favoriting photos and the three-dot overflow menu at the top-right corner. This menu offers shortcuts for about the photo, Google Lens, and Create (collage, cinematic photo, movie, and Photo to video).

The screenshots of the app shared by the publication show that the three-dot menu has other options like Order photo, Use as, Slideshow, Cast, Download, or Delete from device, Print, and Help & feedback. Some of these options were earlier present within the info/metadata menu. We can see that this menu now has a light background theme.
