Google Translate is the go-to translation app for most users worldwide. It is reliable, fast, and has a nice integration with the other Google apps, which makes it even more user-friendly. But this is not where it ends. Google is reportedly adding Gemini’s advanced AI features to Google Translate. This will not just improve its accuracy, but will add some intriguing features as well.
Google is set to integrate Gemini into its Translate app
Google is planning numerous major changes for its Translate app. It was previously reported that the firm is planning a new Practice mode for the application. This feature would compete with the famous learning app, Duolingo. And now, the tech giant is adding several new AI -powered features to the app.
As per the APK teardown by Android Authority, Google Translate is set to get a major revamp in the coming days. Before anything, the voice input button’s position has been changed. Instead of being aligned at the centre, it is now positioned on the right side of the screen. The size of the button has been shrunk as well.
A brief user interface revamp is on the way
The microphone, handwriting, and paste button are now positioned in the bottom portion of the screen. This has been done to ease the one-handed usage. For reference, the paste and handwriting button was positioned on the top portion of the screen, near the dialogue box. This would make it harder for one-handed usage.
Since the Gemini is now directly integrated into the Google Translate app, you get a button to switch between the models. Just like how we do it on the Gemini mobile app. Two models will be initially available for selection: fast and advanced. The former model is optimized for speed and efficiency, whereas the latter is targeted for accuracy. The advanced model currently has limited language support, but it is expected to support more languages in the future.
