Google is making a strategic move to bring its advanced AI tools to a wider global audience. Following a successful trial in Indonesia, the company has announced that its new, more affordable subscription plan, Google AI Plus, is now available in 40 additional countries, significantly expanding its reach. This move provides a budget-friendly way for more users to access premium AI features that were previously part of Google’s more expensive plans.

The new AI Plus plan is a significantly cheaper alternative to the company’s premium AI Pro plan, which costs $20 a month. Pricing for the new play may vary between regions, though. That said, the plan aims to offer a low-cost entry point into Google’s AI ecosystem. Plus, as an incentive for new users, Google is offering a 50% discount for the first six months.

Google’s decision to launch and expand this plan looks like a direct response to competition. The move is positioned as a head-on challenge to OpenAI’s ChatGPT Go, which followed a similar strategy by offering an affordable service in developing markets. The introductory discount makes the Mountain View giant’s offer even more attractive.

40 new countries

The expansion of Google AI Plus makes a number of powerful tools more accessible to a huge number of people. The new plan is available in the following countries: Angola, Bangladesh, Benin, Bolivia, Burkina Faso, Cambodia, Cameroon, Côte d’Ivoire, Egypt, El Salvador, Ghana, Haiti, Honduras, Indonesia, Kenya, Kyrgyzstan, Laos, Mali, Mexico, Moldova, Morocco, Mozambique, Nepal, Nicaragua, Nigeria, Pakistan, Papua New Guinea, Philippines, Rwanda, Senegal, Tajikistan, Tanzania, Togo, Tunisia, Uganda, Ukraine, Uzbekistan, Vietnam, Yemen, Zambia, and Zimbabwe.
