The Google Stadia controller conversion tool is dead. Officially dead. After having been initially slotted for a shutdown back in 2023, Google extended the timing and gave the tool a longer lifespan. In fact, Google gave it an extension twice, with the second extension kicking things out to the end of 2025 . The tool had persisted, however, and was still available to use even as recently as this week. Now, however, the tool has been pulled offline, and going to the website where you accessed it is now coming up with a 404 error.

The Stadia controller conversion tool was a way for Stadia controller owners to transform their controller into a standard Bluetooth controller. When Stadia shut down years ago, the controller was essentially just a paperweight. That is, unless you used Google’s new tool to open up the controller’s Bluetooth capabilities. Google set this tool up before Stadia’s closure and made it available before it was shuttered. Many feel the Stadia controller was a great controller, so it was nice that Google was giving users a way to let the controller live on.

The Stadia controller conversion tool may be officially gone, but it’s still technically accessible

If you still have a Stadia controller lying around and you never converted it, you’re not entirely out of luck. While the official website no longer works, as 9To5Google reports , the tool was backed up a few years ago and is available through GitHub . So, you can still convert the controller if you’re willing to put in a little extra effort.

It may not be as simple and straightforward as going to the website when it was active, but at least it’s still an option if you want to keep using your Stadia controller for other platforms. Once the controller is converted, you can use it with any platform that accepts Bluetooth controllers. That means it’ll work for PC, Mac, Android , iOS, GeForce NOW , and more.
