HONOR Magic V5 foldable is set to launch globally at an event in London on August 28th. The phone originally debuted in China last month. It is touted to be the slimmest foldable in the category, measuring just 4.1mm when unfolded and 8.8mm when folded. In comparison, the HONOR Magic V3 is 4.35mm thick. The HONOR Magic V5 is also the lightest foldable at 217 grams (ivory white color). This is less than some regular phones.

The HONOR Magic V5 global model will be available in three colors, including dawn gold, ivory white, and black. The company has shared a teaser video on X, highlighting how the foldable is as slim as a calligraphy pen. The global model will have Google Gemini support for all your creative and productive needs. HONOR Share enables seamless transfers between the HONOR Magic V5 and Apple products like the iPhone and MacBook.
The HONOR Magic V5 is also quite durable , as the impact resistance around the hinge area has seen a significant improvement. The dual aerospace special fiber technology boosts impact strength by 40 times, in comparison to standard glass. The foldable comes with HONOR Magic Pen support, which claims to offer “true-to-paper-feel.”
The foldable features the Snapdragon 8 Elite chip
The HONOR Magic V5 global model will feature a 5,820mAh battery with 66W wired and 50W wireless fast charging. There’s an IP58 and IP59 water and dust resistance. For cameras, you get a 50MP main sensor, a 50MP ultrawide angle lens, and a 64MP 3x periscope telephoto lens. You get a 20MP selfie shooter on the cover and inner displays.
The HONOR foldable has a 7.95-inch foldable OLED inner display and a 6.43-inch outer OLED screen. Both have a 120Hz refresh rate and Dolby Vision. The phone offers an under-display fingerprint sensor, NFC, Wi-Fi 7, and Bluetooth 6.0. The foldable is not just about the design. It is also quite powerful, thanks to the Snapdragon 8 Elite chip ticking at the core.
HONOR is the fastest-growing book-type foldable brand in Europe in 2024. It has tripled the market share from 11% to 34%, as per the Counterpoint Research report. The launch of the HONOR Magic V5 should take things further for the brand. The report adds that the European foldable market may reach nearly 10% of premium smartphone sales by 2028.
