After Vivo, OPPO, and Xiaomi, another brand is joining the external camera lens race for its upcoming flagship. We’re talking about HONOR , which will offer an add-on telephoto extender lens as a part of the camera kit for its upcoming Magic8 RSR Porsche Design. The company is showing off the camera kit through an official poster image before its launch.
HONOR reveals Magic8 RSR Porsche Design’s camera kit before launch
The poster image showing the telephoto extender seems to be revealing a 2.35x converter , similar to the Vivo X200 Ultra and X300 Pro’s add-on lens. The HONOR Magic8 RSR Porsche Design could offer an 85mm 200MP telephoto camera. This means the add-on lens will enable 200mm (~8.6x) native zoom. The company has reportedly posted some sample images taken with the telephoto extender. These confirm a zoom range of 200mm to at least 800mm (~33x).
The poster further confirms the Magic8 RSR Porsche Design will have an industry-leading CIPA (Camera & Imaging Products Association) image stabilization rating of 6.5. For some context, the regular HONOR Magic8 Pro has a CIPA rating of 5.5. This, paired with the photography kit, should result in some terrific images.

The phone is launching on January 19th
In addition to the telephoto converter, the photography kit seems to include a special case and a camera grip with a shutter and a scroll wheel. Besides hardware, it remains to be seen whether the add-on lens will bring any interesting software features.
Raw power-wise, the HONOR Magic8 RSR Porsche Design will arrive with Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chip. You’ll also get a large 7,200mAh battery with 120W fast charging support. The handset will launch on January 19th in China.
