If you happen to live in a region where Huawei phones are readily available for you, then you might want to take note of the company’s next flagship launch. Huawei has teased the upcoming launch of the Mate 80 series, which according to the invite, will take place on November 25, 2025 .
Huawei Mate 80 launch date confirmed
The Mate 80 series will serve as the successor to last year’s Mate 70 series. According to the leaks and rumors, it looks like Huawei has four models planned for the Mate 80 launch. This includes the base Mate 80, then there’s the Mate 80 Pro, then the Mate 80 Pro Max (which replaces the company’s previous Pro+ naming scheme). Last but not least, the Mate 80 RS ULTIMATE DESIGN.
The exact specs of the phones remain unclear at this time. However, from what we have heard, all four phones are expected to be powered by the Kirin 9030 chipset. The differences lie in the RAM, storage, cameras, and obviously display sizes.
What can we expect?
Starting with the base Mate 80, it will start with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, but can go up to 16GB RAM and 512GB of storage. The Pro model will start with 16GB of RAM and go up to 1TB of storage. Both models will support 66W wired charging. The Pro Max model is also the same, with 16GB of RAM and up to 1TB in storage.
As for the Huawei Mate 80 RS ULTIMATE DESIGN, it will start with 20GB of RAM and also go up to 1TB of storage.
In terms of design, the Mate 80, Pro, and Pro Max share a similar design language. All feature flat edges and a huge circular camera cutout . There’s also another ring sitting below the camera, which is either a design choice or where the magnets go for Qi2 support. The Mate 80 RS, on the other hand, sports a more angular design. The edges are sharper and the camera cutout, instead of a circle, is shaped like an octagon.
It is also rumored to feature a quad camera setup which includes dual periscope telephoto lenses. It will also support 100W wired charging.
While nothing has been confirmed yet, the entire lineup will most likely run on Huawei’s HarmonyOS NEXT platform . This is the latest version of Huawei’s HarmonyOS and it finally ditches all traces of Android. This means that previous methods that allowed users to install the Play Store no longer work (at least for now). However, there are some workarounds if there are some Android apps you must have on your Huawei phone.
