Huawei has just announced the global version of its new flagship foldable smartphone , the Mate X7, following the launch in China . This happened during an event in Dubai, and in addition to that phone, the Huawei FreeClip 2 earphones have been announced.

The company says that the Huawei Mate X7 “boasts a slim, yet durable design and powerful performance, including flagship-grade smartphone imaging.” The phone comes in fiber-finished Brocade White variant, and two vegan leather options, Nebula Red and Black.

The Huawei Mate X7 comes with considerable camera improvements

The company also says that this is its first slim foldable phone “to have the same level of imaging capabilities as a standard flagship phone.” Its upgraded second-gen True-to-Color Camera delivers a 43% improved color accuracy, says Huawei.

Huawei used Advanced Precision Hinges here, and a 3-layer Composite Ultra-Tough structure. There is a 3,550mm2 SuperCool Ultra-Large VC and Graphene Heat Dissipation System built in here.

The phone is 9.5mm thick when folded, and 4.5mm thick when unfolded. It weighs 235 grams, though there is a slight difference between the vegan leather options and the non-vegan leather option in terms of weight.

It offers quite fast wired and wireless charging

The Mate X7 is also IP58/IP59 certified, and comes with a 5,600mAh battery on the inside. Speaking of which, 66W wired and 50W wireless charging is supported, not to mention 7.5W reverse wireless charging and 5W reverse wired charging.

There is an 8-inch main foldable display included here. It’s an LTPO OLED panel with a 120Hz refresh rate and high-frequency PWM dimming. It’s very bright and has a screen-to-body ratio of over 90%. The resolution here is 2416 x 2210 pixels.

The cover display measures 6.49 inches, and it’s an LTPO OLED display. It offers a 120Hz refresh rate too, and a high-frequency PWM dimming. This one gets quite bright too, and has a resolution of 2444 x 1080. Kunlun Glass 2 protects this panel.

It has one of the most compelling camera setups in foldables

A 50-megapixel main camera (f/1.4-f/4.0, OIS, PDAF) sits on the back, along with a 40-megapixel ultrawide unit (f/2.2 aperture, 120-degree FoV). The third camera is a 50-megapixel periscope telephoto unit (f/2.2 aperture, 3.5x optical zoom).

There is also a side-facing fingerprint scanner, which is built into the home button. The SoC was not mentioned, but the Kirin 9030 Pro, a 6nm chip, fuels the phone in China, so it’s possible the same is the case for this variant.

The Huawei FreeClip 2 earbuds come in four colors

The Huawei FreeClip 2 earbuds , on the other hand, come in Black, White, Black, and Rose Gold colors. Each earbud weighs just 5.1 grams, and these are open-ear earbuds, as many of you know.

Huawei says that these earbuds offer “clear, dynamic audio and call quality across different usage scenarios thanks to its high-energy dual-driver units and NPU AI processor which delivers ten times the computing performance of the previous generation.”

They are water and dust resistant

They are IP57 certified for water and dust resistance, and are able to offer up to 38 hours of battery life, including the charging case, of course. There is also a touch pad on each earbuds for volume adjustment and other gestures.

Huawei also says that charging them for 10 minutes provides you up to 3 hours of use. The charging case itself weighs 37.8 grams, in case you were wondering, without the earbuds in it.

Huawei uses its self-developed third-generation audio chip inside here, and a dual-diaphragm driver. That driver should enable a 100% improvement in volume and low-frequency power. Adaptive volume is included as well, as is Smart Voice Enhancement.
