If you’ve been wondering what the One UI 8.5 update will bring to the table… well, we have just the info for you. A leaked changelog has revealed the features that the One UI 8.5 beta update will bring, and there’s a lot to go over.
Before we begin, do note that this update is expected to debut with the Samsung Galaxy S26 series devices. They’re expected to arrive at some point in January 2026, so next month, basically.
This will be a rather big update . It is still based on Android 16 , of course, but it’s a big halfway update to Android 17. Leaks are suggesting that the Beta program for One UI 8.5 will begin on December 8 , by the way.
One UI 8.5 is set to bring a lot of new features, including massive Bixby improvements
Now, according to Traun Vats, who shared the info on X, here are the changes. Galaxy AI will get continuous image generation. Photo Assist will let you generate AI images using different Photo Assist features without saving each iteration. After you’re done, you can check the history and pick your favorites.
Bixby will bring smarter device controls. You’ll be able to talk to it with your own words. It will be better at finding the setting or feature you need. You’ll also be able to ask Bixby anything, anytime.
What else? Well, we’re still on Bixby. It will have conversation history. You’ll be able to look back through past conversations without a problem from the Bixby app.
You’ll be able to access your files anywwhere
The storage share feature will become available. You’ll be able to access your files anywhere. Files from Samsung phones, tablets, and PCs will be available via the My Files app on your smartphone.
You’ll also be able to quickly connect your smart devices. The system will allow you to add a shortcut on your home screen to instantly mirror your phone’s screen to a TV.
Enhanced Auracast will also be available, as will Voice broadcasts. You’ll be able to broadcast your voice with Auracast.
The battery settings screen is getting a revamp
Samsung will also deliver revamped battery info in One UI 8.5. You’ll be able to see your battery stats more clearly, and the entire Battery settings screen will be redesigned. It’ll be easier to check remaining time, charging status, and daily usage.
Power saving will be improved too. Standard mode will bring moderate savings and customizable limits. The Maximum mode will turn off all non-essential features to maximize battery life.
Samsung will also bring some accessibility improvements, along with other tweaks. Your quick panel will be even more customizable than before, while partial screen recording will also be an option.
