IKEA has released a new Qi2 wireless charging accessory called the VASTMARKE Wireless charger, and it’s already gaining attention due to its donut-shaped design. The charger costs $9.99 making it a pretty good value for all that it offers. This is IKEA as well, so the low price shouldn’t be surprising. Since it supports the Qi2 standard, it’ll work for the latest iPhones and Google’s Pixel 10 series devices, like the Pixel 10 Pro . Because of the built-in magnets, it’ll also work with MagSafe and Google’s new PixelSnap magnets .
It only appears to come in a bright red color, but the color itself isn’t really where the appeal of this accessory is. It’s in the charger’s two hidden functions that you would never know exist, just by looking at the image of it above.
The IKEA Qi2 VASTMARKE wireless charger has a built-in phone grip
While supporting the Qi2 standard and being relatively cheap in cost already makes this a stand-out wireless charger option, it’s the hidden functions, such as the built-in phone grip, that make this more of an appealing thing to have around.
You can invert that top donut-style part to turn it into a phone grip that you can slide your fingers behind, just like you would a PopSocket. The other function is that the donut-style part of the charger also serves as a place to store and hide the cable. You can wrap the cable around the middle part (the same place you would put your fingers to grip the phone) and then close the dome part down around the cord. This keeps things neat and organized, and it’s actually a thoughtful design choice. If only it came in a few other colors to give you some more variety when it comes to personalization options.
Naturally, the cable that it comes with is attached, and it uses USB-C, given that the phones it’s designed for charge via USB-C. Then again, most phones do these days. It may or may not be available for pickup at your local IKEA. It is, however, available for order on the IKEA website , but IKEA requires a $35 minimum purchase for shipping.
