iOS 26 is the latest version of iOS for 2025. More recently, Apple released iOS 26.2 with a bunch of changes, bug fixes, and tweaks. But what’s next in the pipeline? Thanks to an exclusive Macworld report , we might have an idea of what to expect from the secret iOS roadmap up to iOS 28.
According to Macworld, an internal iOS 26 engineering build containing “feature flags” has revealed Apple’s development plans through 2027. These flags toggle upcoming functionalities, offering a rare glimpse into features currently in testing. The leak shows Apple’s focus on AI integration, health services, and ecosystem lock-in without guaranteeing final inclusion.
Starting with iOS 26.4 in Spring 2026
iOS 26.4 is shaping up as a substantial update scheduled for spring 2026. The highlight is a redesigned Health app featuring new categories, easier logging interfaces, and possible Health+ AI coaching as a subscription service. This highlights Apple’s push toward service revenue growth , locking users deeper into its ecosystem.
Security improvements are also expected to arrive alongside the health features. There will also be device integrity checks, which will block jailbroken devices from logging into Apple ID. This will help protect accounts, but at the same time further restricts the limited customization options of Apple.
Users can also expect to see support for credit card autofill from third-party apps to iCloud Keychain. Also, Freeform gains folder organization, and Apple TV introduces a Sports subscription tier.
However, the biggest change is probably Siri. Apple was supposed to introduce a revamped Siri as part of Apple Intelligence , but that did not happen. The company did confirm it will launch in 2026 . Now this report suggests it could be part of the iOS 26.4 update.
iOS 27 and beyond
As for what’s beyond iOS 26, it might be too early to tell. However, the leaked build does hint at some potential features. This includes improved collections in Photos for iOS 27 and a new pairing system for AirPods. As for iOS 28, Apple plans to introduce new metrics for sleep tracking on the Apple Watch . Also, the Health app could come to macOS as well.
That being said, it is unclear if all these features will make the final cut. Many companies test new features ahead of a public launch, but there’s no guarantee they will ship. We’ll just have to wait and see.
