It’s safe to say that out of all the smartphones that are expected to launch in 2026, the upcoming foldable iPhone is probably the most highly-anticipated of the lot. Even if you absolutely hate Apple , you’re probably a little curious to see how the company could tackle a foldable. Well, for those wondering, analyst Jeff Pu has shared some of the specs of the upcoming iPhone Fold.
Here are the specs of the iPhone Fold
In a note to investors, Pu shared the specs of the upcoming iPhone Fold, and for the most part, it’s not too far off from previous rumors. For starters, Apple might skip the use of Face ID for the foldable in favor of Touch ID. This is a bit disappointing given how much more secure Face ID is. We’re not sure if it was a costing decision or a technical one, but either way, you should keep that in mind.
It is also rumored to feature a body made out of a mix of titanium and aluminum. Recently, we heard that the iPhone Fold could feature a hinge made out of titanium and liquid metal . This is supposedly what helps keep the hinge strong for repeated folding. Pu also claims that there will be two 18MP front-facing cameras. One will sit on the outer display, and one on the inner display. He also claims that on the back, the phone will sport a dual camera setup consisting of dual 48MP sensors.
As for the display, Pu says that there is a 5.3-inch outer display and a 7.8-inch inner display. This lines up with what we’ve been hearing . However, Pu does not mention the aspect ratio. Past rumors claim that Apple might be going with a different aspect ratio than what we’ve been used to. Instead of a more square design, Apple could go with a 4:3 aspect ratio . This would make it look more like a tablet, like the iPad mini.
That would be a smart move on Apple’s part as it would leverage apps already built for the iPad. However, this also means that it makes the cover display smaller. We think that this has more to do with preference. Some users have no issue with the square-ish displays of current foldables.
What about pricing?
In his investor’s note, Pu does not mention price. Unfortunately, rumors of the price are still a bit all over the place. Some rumors claim that it could cost above $2,000, going up to as much as $2,399. However, there have been other rumors saying it could be priced under the $2,000 mark .
Either way, don’t expect it to come cheap. Seeing as how Apple’s iPhones were never cheap to begin with, we doubt a foldable would be either.
