Google has just begun sending out invites to a Made by Google event on August 20. Which confirms our earlier exclusive reporting that the announcement would take place on August 20 .
The invite says “You’re invited to an in-person Made by Google show where we’ll introduce the latest additions to our Pixel portfolio of devices”. The event is set for Wednesday, August 20 at 1PM ET. Since the time is in Eastern Time Zone, we are expecting this to be in New York City, versus Mountain View, where Google held the event last year.
At this event, we’re expecting that Google will announce the Google Pixel 10 , Pixel 10 Pro , Pixel 10 Pro XL , Pixel 10 Pro Fold , and Pixel Watch 4 (41mm and 45mm) . There could be a few surprises too, we’ve seen rumors of a new Pixel Buds a-series making its debut as well. This is likely also when we will see Material 3 Expressive start to roll out, which hit beta back in May.
Google is set to steal the show ahead of iPhone 17
With Google’s announcement just under a month ahead of Apple’s iPhone 17 announcement, it’s poised to steal its thunder, once again.
Last year, Google decided to move up the timing of its launch event to August, from October. It also moved up the rest of its schedule. With the latest version of Android launching in June, and the developer previews launching in November. It makes a lot of sense for Google to move up the release schedule, because a mid-October release was just too late for Pixel. And it caused Google to have to discount its devices very quickly after launch.
We will be there in person at the event, to bring you all of the latest details about the Pixel 10 series and the Pixel Watch 4 series.
