MediaTek has confirmed the arrival of its new flagship processor . The MediaTek Dimensity 9500 is the name of the chip, as expected, and its launch date has been confirmed as well.
The MediaTek Dimensity 9500 will launch on September 22 in China
The MediaTek Dimensity 9500 will launch on September 22 in China . So we’re basically a week away from that launch event. The company confirmed as much via its social media channels in China.
The Vivo X300 series is expected to be the first to utilize this chip. The Vivo X300 and Vivo X300 Pro are expected to arrive, and both devices will launch mid-October in China, at least that’s what’s expected. They are expected to get global versions at some point.
If it ends up being as good as its predecessor, MediaTek has nothing to worry about
With that being said, the MediaTek Dimensity 9400 is an outstanding processor. It goes toe-to-toe with the Snapdragon 8 Elite , and the same goes for the Dimensity 9400+. We have high hopes for the Dimensity 9500 for that very reason. That chip will compete directly with the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 .
The MediaTek Dimensity 9500 is rumored to use a 1+3+4 CPU setup made up of one Travis core clocked at 4.21GHz, three Alto cores at 3.50GHz, and four Gelas cores clocked at 2.7GHz. The Travis and Alto cores belong to Arm’s new X9 line, while the Gelas core is a part of the updated A7 series.
Major gains are rumored
The Mali-G1 Ultra MC12 GPU is expected to be included as well. This chip is promising to deliver over a 40% improvement in both efficiency and ray tracing capabilities. It remains to be seen if that rumor is true.
UFS 4.1 flash storage is expected to be supported too, and the same goes for LPDDR5X RRAM at 10,667Mbps. We’ll get many more details on September 22, and we’ll see if these rumors are spot on or not.
Either way, the MediaTek Dimensity 9500 does look great on paper, at least based on what we’ve seen thus far. If it ends up being as powerful and as reliable as the Dimensity 9400, it’ll be a home run for MediaTek.
