HONOR is upping the ante when it comes to smartphone innovation with its new Robot Phone. This is the company’s unique offering with a gimbal camera attached to a robotic arm on its back. The brand teased it last month and confirmed to bring it globally during the MWC 2026 in March. However, before that, we’re getting a preview of the design of its Robot Phone at the HONOR User Carnival in China.

This preview offers us a closer look at the Robot Phone in the flesh. Interestingly, we see different design iterations, color options, and, importantly, the gimbal camera. The Robot Phone will be available in black, white, and gold colors. Depending on the color, the back will either be faux leather or glass. Based on the material, the weight of the phone may vary.
The back design of the HONOR Robot Phone resembles the iPhone 17 Pro. There’s a large horizontal camera module up top and an aluminum chassis with a glass window below. It appears the phone is present in a closed box.
The star of the show is the gimbal camera
The star of the show is the gimbal camera that pops out. It almost looks identical to a DJI Osmo Pocket series. The camera retracts from the dedicated area in the camera island. It also seems to have other regular camera sensors within the layout. The phone will feature a bunch of AI features that’ll allow the gimbal to move and interact with what it sees.
This unique design should make it a standout among the regular phones. But then again, there’s the question of durability as well, considering it has moving parts. Either way, we’ll probably know more at the MWC next year.
