Motorola is preparing a new mobile device for launch. The timing suggests it could be one of the first phones to feature an unannounced Qualcomm processor. The device, with the model number XT2603-1, could be the Motorola Edge 70 Ultra . This device appeared on Geekbench last week, showing impressive scores. However, it seems it might be equipped with a different chip than initially mentioned. A recent leak claims that the Motorola Edge 70 Ultra actually features the upcoming Qualcomm Snapdragon 7+ Gen 5 chip.

The latest leak comes from tech tipster Anvin on X/Twitter . According to their post, the Motorola Edge 70 Ultra will be equipped with the Snapdragon 7+ Gen 5. This is significant considering that earlier reports suggested the presence of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 SoC.

This potential new entry into the Snapdragon 7 series will target the premium mid-range market. The listing confirms a core configuration featuring two high-performance cores clocked at 3.65GHz and six efficiency cores running at 3.32GHz. The CPU is assisted by an Adreno 829 GPU for graphics processing.

On Geekbench, the alleged Snapdragon 7+ Gen 5-powered Motorola phone also boasts 16GB of RAM. The tested unit was running on Android 16. This hardware combination resulted in impressive raw performance figures. More specifically, in Geekbench 6, the device notched a single-core score of 2,636 and a multi-core score of 7,475.

Motorola Edge 70 Ultra Could Debut the Snapdragon 7+ Gen 5 Chip - 1

The chip is more powerful than 2024 flagships

To put those numbers into perspective, the rumored Snapdragon 7+ Gen 5 appears to deliver a multi-core performance boost of around 15% when compared to the flagship Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chips found in top-tier phones like the Xiaomi 14 Ultra ( Review ) and Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra ( Review ) from 2024.

This performance seems to have a very clear goal: delivering flagship-level speed to premium mid-range phones. However, the scores still sit below those achieved by the newer, affordable flagship-tier chip, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 .

Motorola has not yet officially confirmed the existence of the Motorola Edge 70 Ultra. However, these impressive benchmark results have already started the hype train for this upcoming device.
