Alongside the new Razr Fold , Motorola also announced its new flagship phone, the Signature . While Motorola’s phones tend to pack decent cameras, we wouldn’t go as far as calling them the best of the bunch. However, recent results on DXOMARK’s camera tests suggest that the Motorola Signature could be quite the photographer.
Motorola Signature ranks high on DXOMARK’s camera tests
According to DXOMARK, the Motorola Signature ranks 6th in its global smartphone list . The phone scored 164 points , putting it behind other phones like the Huawei Pura 80 Ultra, which sits at the number one position, the Vivo X300 Pro, the OPPO Find X8 Ultra, the iPhone 17 Pro, the Vivo X200 Ultra, and the Honor Magic8 Pro.
Did you notice something? Yup, neither Samsung nor Google’s smartphones beat out the Motorola Signature. In fact, the Pixel 10 Pro XL sits in 8th place, two spots below Motorola. As for the Samsung Galaxy S-series of flagship phones? Nowhere on the list at all, at least not in the top 20 phones.
So, where did the Motorola Signature do well? According to the report, it had accurate exposure and a wide dynamic range in both photos and videos. It also offered a neutral white balance and nice colors in photos and videos. The phone also excelled in low light and had good depth estimation and skin tones in portrait mode. Overall, DXOMARK noticed that Motorola ’s flagship produced very low image noise in general.
This doesn’t mean it’s perfect. The company noticed some slight video exposure instabilities, the occasional noise in backlit scenes, and some slight loss of detail at short tele. However, the pros appear to outweigh the cons, so that’s good.
What else can we expect?
In case you missed Motorola’s announcement, this is the company’s latest flagship device . Under the hood, you will find Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 chipset. It also packs 12-16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and is available with up to 1TB of UFS 4.1 storage.
The phone also comes with a 6.8-inch Extreme AMOLED display that goes up to 6,200 nits in brightness. It also boasts a buttery-smooth 165Hz refresh rate. Users can also expect to find a 5,200mAh battery along with IP68 and IP69 rating when it comes to water and dust resistance.
As for its cameras, the Motorola Signature packs a triple camera setup on the back. This includes a 50MP main, a 50MP ultrawide, and a 50MP telephoto with 3x optical zoom. On paper it doesn’t sound particularly impressive, but if DXOMARK’s camera scores are any indication, this could be a sleeper hit.
Unfortunately, for now, the Motorola Signature might skip the US market. Right now it’s only been announced for Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Latin America, and the Asia-Pacific regions. Motorola could rebrand it as something else for the US, but we’ll have to wait and see.
